Using a metal rack to elevate the baked keto chicken legs helps allow the air to circulate around them resulting in crispy legs even on the bottom.
Foil line your tray when baking with a rack this will make for quick and easy clean up!
If you don’t have a metal rack, use parchment paper and be sure to flip the chicken legs part way through, this method may add 5-10 minutes to the baking time.
For crispier chicken skin start with an initial high heat when baking the chicken legs in the oven. Pre-heat the oven to 425-450 degrees and bake at this temp for the first 10-15 minutes will help crispy up the skin quickly. Reduce the temperature back to 400 degrees for the remainder and continue baking until the legs are cooked through to 165 degree internal temp.

Finish the legs with direct heat at the end to help crisp up the skin and create those beautiful grill marks. Baked Keto Chicken Legs
- 2 LB Chicken Legs
- 2 TBSP Olive Oil
- 1 TSP Salt
- 1/2 TSP Pepper
- 1 TSP Garlic Powder
- 1/2 TSP Onion Powder
- 1 TSP Smoked Paprika
- 1/4 TSP Cayenne Pepper
- 1/4 TSP Dried Oregano
- Clean and Dry Chicken Legs
- Mix the Olive Oil and Spices in a bowl, and stir to combine
- Coat the chicken legs in the seasoning – Dip, Flip and use your hands to make sure they are fully coated.
- Baking – Place the legs on a rack placed on a baking tray bake for 40 minutes at 400 degrees or until internal temp reaches 165 degrees. *See Notes
- Grilling – Place the legs on the grill and cook until the internal temp reaches 165 degrees. *See Notes
- Allow to rest a few minutes and enjoy!
