Valentine’s Day is all about sharing love, and what better way to do that than with a delightful mix of sweet and savory snacks. This Valentine’s Party Mix is the perfect treat to whip up for your sweetheart, friends, or a festive party. Here’s how you can make this irresistible blend that combines the best of all worlds!
How to make Valentine’s Day Party Mix:
Start by preheating your oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit and Gather your Ingredients.
In a large bowl or aluminum pan (for easy cleanup), combine the Rice Chex, Golden Grahams, and pretzels. This trio forms the crunchy foundation of your Valentine’s Party Mix.
Next start the Sweet Glaze. In a sauce pan, combine the Karo syrup, sugar and butter. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. (Add a pinch of salt) Once boiling, let it cook for 2 minutes.
Carefully pour the hot syrup mixture over your cereal and pretzel blend. Stir everything together with a large spoon or spatula until all pieces are evenly coated. Once the mixture has cooled a bit sometimes I get in there with gloved hands to give it a final blend.
Next pour onto a baking sheet and place in your preheated oven for one hour, stirring the mix every 15 minutes.
Once baked, remove the mix from the oven and dump it out onto parchment paper or paper bags and break up the mix with your hands. I use gloves as the mixture is quite warm. Sprinkle with Valentines sprinkles while the mixture is still warm and sticky. Once cooled add in the Valentine’s M&M’s – They add a vibrant pop of color and burst of chocolate flavor!
Once everything has cooled completely, you’re ready to serve this delightful mix. If your not serving immediately, store in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
Serving Suggestions:
At a Party: Set out bowls of this mix at your Valentine’s gatherings for guests to snack on while they mingle.
As a Gift: Pack into cute, heart-themed containers or bags, tie with a ribbon, and give as a thoughtful, handmade gift to friends or your Valentine.
For Movie Night: Perfect for snacking during a romantic movie marathon! What is your favorite movie?
Tips and Tricks:
Be careful not to overcook the syrup/glaze mixture, it should be light golden. You don’t want to burn this mixture so keep stirring and keep the heat at a level to boil but not burn.
My mixture does not stick when baking but if your worried you can spray a little cooking spray into the pan before starting.
Make sure to break apart the mixture when it comes out of the oven or the pieces will stick together leaving large hard to eat clumps.
Customize with different colored M&M or themed sprinkles for other holidays or events.
